Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
